My Persistent Birds

A jay on the roof,
Sparrows winging through the air,
Robins on the ground,
Birds everywhere!
Cowbirds and small birds,
A sparrow here and there,
Bluejays and finches,
Birds sitting in the trees.
Birds eating from the feeders,
A hummingbird there,
Birds in my mind,
Please give me relief!
Your incessant racket
Is driving me mad!
Please tweet and twitter,
Not screech and shout!
Absolute silence fills my backyard.
No sparrow or finch,
No hummingbird either,
Now that it's quiet, I go along cheerful,
But I soon wish my birds were back.
I call to the birds,
Come back here right now!
A small sparrow returns,
Then two, then three.
And then they are back,
To where they're supposed to be.
